1. Purpose: guide the operator to use needle detector correctly
2. Scope: applicable in packaging and inspection workshop
3. Duty:
（1）Operator operates the equipment by steps and make records;
（2）Team head is in charge of reviewing records;
（3）Mechanic is responsible for maintenance and calibration;
（4）Admin. Dept. supervises and spot examines the operation.
4. Contents:
（1）Before the operation, all the metal-made articles (e.g. key, watch, work card) should be place in fixed area, away from the metal detector. Around the needle detector, the metal-made articles are not allowed to appear.
（2） When needle detector starts, first check the detector with ferromagnetic metal card or block. The left/middle/right magnetic field should be checked. All the checking results should be recorded.
（3）Each needle detector should be examined at least twice a day (before morning shift, before afternoon shift, before night shift or before equipment starts)
（4）While the equipment is running, please don’t touch and shake it. No articles can be placed over the equipment. No metal-made articles are allowed to appear around the equipment, such as cart or cup, or the wrong warning will occur.
（5）Once sensitivity is set, please don’t alter. The setting board should be locked to prevent staffs from touching. Or the detection result will be affected.
（6） Only after the equipment is checked and the record is made, it can start to work----place the subject on the equipment for needle detection.
（7）When all subjects are tested, two staffs must be on site at the same time. Meanwhile, the record should be signed. All the records should be submitted to team head for review.
（8）All the products and subjects without metal should be tested by needle detector.
（9）If the product contains article that affects test result of the needle detector, it should be tested before the article is installed. The operation is the same.
（10）If the product can not pass the test by needle detector, the portable needle detector should be used to find out the metal article and record should be made. If article can’t be found and the product can’t pass the test, the product will be in the scrap list. All the scraps will be reported to team head who will arrange the scrapping on time.
（11）Needle detector’s daily cleaning and maintenance should be done by the operator.
（12）Fault and solution:
①In the case that needle detector sometimes warns and sometimes not, if the subject contains a tiny amount of metals, the detector will not detect it. This case is normal. If it doesn’t warn two times, it means the subject is OK.
②Wrong warning: when the equipment runs for a time, the belt may be mixed with some scrap irons. It may cause wrong warning. In this case, the belt should be cleaned with soft cloth.
③Reasons why lamp lights irregularly: perhaps the motor, clutch, sewing machine, fan, air conditioner or some other electromagnetic equipment, trolley cart are nearby the equipment. They should be over 3 meters away in all directions from needle detector. It may be also caused by the operator’s mobile phone or watch, the small irons on the belt. In this situation, dismantle the equipment’s covers and carefully clean the belt’s two sides.
④Adjustment if belt goes deviated: after the equipment runs for a time, the belt may go deviated. The screw can be adjusted to for correction. If it can’t be corrected, it will be reported to team head for further treatment (ask mechanic or supplier to solve it).
